Dr. Michael Peterson is a chiropractor licensed in the state of Oklahoma, serving the Tulsa area for over 30 years. He is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, as well as Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Peterson specializes in the treatment of cumulative trauma disorders of the upper extremity, disorders of the lower extremity, disorders of the neck and low back. He is also a member of the Gonstead Clinical Studies Society and has received specialized training in Active Release Technique®.
Dr. Peterson utilizes Active Release Technique® in treatment of most conditions in our office. The Active Release Technique® Soft Tissue Management System provides a way to diagnose and treat the underlying etiology of cumulative trauma disorders, as well as acute injuries that may cause symptoms of numbness, tingling, burning, and pain. This technique is used in conjunction with chiropractic manipulative procedures to address the many roles of soft tissues in injuries. This is the only myofascial release technique utilized by chiropractors that is credentialed through a medical college. This treatment has successfully treated conditions which have traditionally gone unresolved while requiring long-term care including surgical intervention. It is Dr. Peterson’s belief as a healthcare provider that it is his responsibility to provide his patients with the best possible care available. He believes that many conditions are best addressed with a multi-disciplinary approach. It is his belief and experience that traditional forms of conservative management, when utilized concurrently with specific chiropractic manipulation and Active Release Technique®, will resolve a patient’s condition more rapidly and with better results.
Dr. Peterson holds multiple certifications in Applied Functional Science® programs developed by the Gray Institute®, the foremost authority in the field of AFS and the Movement industry. These certifications include: 3D Movement Analysis & Performance System (3DMAPS), Applied Functional Science (CAFS), and the 40-Week Mentorship Program (GIFT). These highly effective techniques are tailored to each patient based on their specific needs and goals.
Dr. Peterson's high success rate in returning patients to pre-injury status with little to no permanent impairment allows him to offer chiropractic care as a low-cost alternative to traditional medical treatment. He has also treated world-class collegiate athletes from all around the Southwest as well as professional athletes and Olympians.
Dr. Peterson is a loving father of five boys, three grandsons and resides in Tulsa with his wife, Lisa, of twenty years.
